Yesterday we celebrate a new edition of Cava&Twitts dedicated in this edition to "Slow Design". It was a question of an itinerant edition, that is to say, someone likes the format and invites us to develop one Cava&Twitts in the frame of a few days or event. And in this occasion it was in the frame of the presentation in Spain of Nissan Cube, a new model of the Japanese mark of motorcars.
So in an incredible place as the Rock Barcelona Gallery and with 4 luxurious guests, John Anthony Sahs (industrial designer of Nissan Cube), Josep Abril (fashionable designer) and the brothers Borja and Lucía Ferrater (of the study of architecture OAB), we penetrate into a concept (I recognize it) so exciting as stranger up to a few weeks ago for me as it is Slow Design.
A definción? … according to the Wikipedia: Slow design is a relatively new concept of the thought of design, a derivative of the movement Slow Food. His basic beginning might be summed up in:
- Longer design processes with more time for the investigation, the contemplation, the essay of the impact of the product on the real life and them to be able to fit to the task for which it has been created.
- Design that bears in mind the local thing, the regional of the culture as source of inspiration and like an important consideration for the result of the design.
- Design that centers on long and stable, such cycles as the human behavior and the sostenibilidad.
And while we were shelling this concept, which so much Borja (it it defined as a reaction to “to live quickly”) like John (who spoke about them like a life style) they were considering to be as “a movement“ and not fashionably, he was thinking about as it fits this with ours every day, with what in the last months it has come to be named the Real one Steal Web, that is to say, wanting to live through every second of connected form, knowing and being informed about everything those that it spends.
It looks like a cultural shock between the movement that looks for the slowness, enjoying every thing and of every moment, and a movement that looks for the immediateness, knowing and being connected. Really are they so different as yesterday it seemed? Sincerely I believe that not, I believe that in the base of both a common factor resides: to be connected.
Slow Design speaks of enjoying every thing in every moment in connection with the nearby thing, with the local thing; being compromised by a responsible consumption but social topcoat. The Real one Steals Web it represents to be connected by our environment, to have information to have criterion. In both cases I believe it is a question of processes that need analyses, which need to flee of the fashion to rest concepts. For me the Real one Steals Web it is not to have 5 different devices connected to 20 social networks, but to be connected by an environment to that to be able to reach port and that contributes me; for the purpose of having more knowledge, of generating more knowledge, of recovering the social part that every person takes inside.
Perhaps it is a question of a set of "too deep reflections, but if I want to claim the real one Steal Web, which Internet, through which the social networks, they do not imply living quickly, things do not imply losing, but they imply being connected of a different form. This one in Twitter does not imply to stop enjoying conversations about a table, but enjoying them a different, more immediate and connected form.
In a moment of Cava&Twitts of yesterday someone asked the guests who should put an example of his every day of an activity “Slow“. John told how in the lunch it goes out to the patio of his study, located in the mountain, to contact the nature and to share things conversations of every day with his partners, Josep Abril was speaking about the schedule, about the flexibility day by day and Borja and was Shining of the contact with theirs, of enjoying the meal in family. I as moderator could not answer, it is not my role, but I was not lacking desire. My moment Slow is trying to be a positive, to transmitting the desire of advancing every day, in the personal thing, in the professional thing, in the social thing … and for that, I admit it, use the real one steal Web, being connected and to be able to transmit and receive.
One spoke about Slow Design as process of social transformation (although it looked like to some more a passing fashion) and I every time am sure more that this is a common point with the real one steals web, since to live connected I believe, sincerely, that it is a big transformation element that, canalized of correct form, I believe that it makes us better persons and helps to develop a better environment. Although, as always, everything is opinable.
